The people from Mexico, Central America or South America who speak Spanish are the one who follow Hispanic culture. The Hispanic food is varied and it differs from region to region. Most of the foods prepared by Hispanic families differ in pungency, sweetness, spiciness and heat.

No doubt the type of dishes remains the same but the technique differs. While preparing Tortillas some Mexican cooks put the corn through lime bath to prepare Masa Harina where as the same recipe is prepared with precooked corn which is done is a special way to gain Masa Harina. Those areas with more cultivation of wheat use wheat instead of corns to prepare Tortillas.

Certain type of food is prevalent in certain Hispanic groups like the South American prefer more of potatoes, wheat and quinoa in their food, those from Mexicans go for corn and amaranth the most whereas the Hispanics from Coastal regions of Latin America and Caribbean indulge themselves more in rice eating.

People are of the opinion that all Hispanic food is hot but this is not so as the regions like Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic make use of tomato, black pepper, garlic and oregano in the place of chilies for cooking. Even if the chilies are used they are of mild variety.

The Hispanic food includes more of beans in their cooking where different variety of beans are used in the Spanish cuisine with some parts using pinta beans, while in other parts beans like black beans, kidney beans, chick peas and pigeon peas are use.
